AYMT Senior group are delighted to have the opportunity to perform “Anastasia”, a heartwarming story about what was a long unsolved mystery – what happened to Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanov?

Set amidst the turmoil of the Russian Revolution, Anya is an orphan stranded in St Petersburg and as she grows up, she is determined to re-discover her past.  To help her, she enlists the aid of conman Dmitry and ex-aristocrat, Vlad Popov, who both after seeing her, notice her resemblance to Anastasia, a Russian Princess.  They convince Anya that she is the long lost Anastasia and plan to take her to Paris to meet her grandmother, the only remaining Romanov, Dowager Empress Marie, who they hope that in return, she will pay them the substantial reward being offered.  Along the way they are pursued by a conflicted Soviet Officer determined to prevent any kind of royalty from coming back into power.  During the journey Anya slowly starts to regain her memory and discovers that she is in fact, Princess Anastasia.

This is a magical tale which includes firm favourites “Journey to the Past” and “Once Upon A December” and explores a young girl’s journey to find out who she is and who she is meant to be.
