Aberdeen Academy of Performing Arts Musical Theatre Students present a double musical theatre production. Act 1 – Seuss Kids, is a 30 min adventure based on the Dr Seuss stories. We follow Horton the Elephant as he discovers a tiny world on a speck of dust and must protect its inhabitants. The musical weaves together multiple Dr. Seuss stories, including Horton’s loyalty to the Whos, his care for an abandoned egg, and the supporting role of other characters like the Cat in the Hat and Gertrude McFuzz. The show highlights themes of friendship, loyalty, and the importance of being unique.
Act 2 is a 1 hour adventure of Shrek the Musical Jr, which is based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film and fantastic Broadway musical. It’s a “big bright beautiful world” as everyone’s favorite ogre, Shrek, leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance. Part romance and part twisted fairy tale, Shrek JR. is an irreverently fun show with a powerful message for the whole family.
